"Henry Cooper, British and Empire heavyweight champion, floored Dick Wipperman of Buffalo, NY, in the 5th round Tuesday night and won on a TKO when the referee stopped the scheduled 10 round fight after 1:30 of the 5th round. Cooper rallied to win after the tall American had opened a cut near his left eye and seemed to be winning. Cooper, bleeding badly at the start of the 5th, landed a left hook that sent Wipperman down for a count of three. As soon as the American got to his feet, Cooper smashed him with another left hook and Wipperman went down for an eight count. Referee Jack Hart then signalled the end." -Associated Press
