Notes

  • "British and Empire heavyweight champ Henry Cooper beat off an early onslaught by bulldog challenger Brian London Monday night to score an overwhelming 15 round verdict in defense of his titles and to pick up the vacant European crown as well. London wound up with his face a bloody mess after taking a boxing lesson as well as a head hammering which left him reeling. Referee Frank Wilson, without hesitation, raised Cooper's hand in victory. London won one round - the 1st - when he lashed into the champion with a tremendous right, followed it with a two-fisted attack to the body and connected twice to the head. After that it was Cooper who took charge. His counter-punching against the bull-like rushes of the challenger took a heavy toll." -United Press International
  • Unofficial UPI scorecard - 10-1-4 Cooper
