Walker knocked Nova down for a no-count in the 4th round, with a left hook to the body, followed by a short right hand to the head. Nova came back to floor Walker for a no-count with a left-right to the body in the 5th round. Nova was able to keep his left in Walker's face for much of the bout. The San Francisco Chronicle gave Nova six rounds, Walker two, with two even.
"Lou Nova of Richmond cut short the winning streak of Sonny Boy Walker when he dished out a 10-round boxing lesson to the clouting cowboy in a main event at the Dreamland Auditorium before 5,000 spectators. Nova's nifty left hand kept Walker at a distance throughout while Lou absorbed the erstwhile Arizonan's best body wallops without evidencing any damage.
