"Jose Gonzalez, Puerto Rico, scored a 7th round TKO over Bobby Cassidy of Levittown, NY, at the Felt Forum Wednesday night. Referee Arthur Mercante stopped the scheduled 10 rounder after the ring doctor examined a cut over Cassidy's right eye that had been dripping blood since the 2nd round. When the fight was stopped, a number of fans rushed into the ring and there was some scuffling among them and also among some of the fans in the arena. Police had to enter the ring to restore order, but there was still some bottles and chairs hurled about by the yelling, howling crowd of about 3,000. Gonzalez carried most of the fight and was ahead on points at the time it was stopped." -United Press International
