"Dwight Hawkins had to come off the canvas Monday night to record a knockout in a scheduled 10 round co-feature at the Valley Music Theater. Hawkins, 127, Los Angeles, went down in the 2nd round of his bout with Luis Ramirez, 127, Torreon, Mexico, but regained his composure to unleash a vicious body attack. Ramirez, bleeding from the mouth, nose and above the eyes, was unable to answer the bell for the 9th round, so Hawkins was awarded an eight round knockout. Hawkins used a methodic series of rights and lefts to the body to cut his opponent down after the 2nd round." -United Press International
