- Date: 1970-07-09
- Location: Seattle Center Coliseum, Seattle, Washington, USA
- Referee: Pat McMurtry
"Fraser Scott scored an 8th round TKO over Denny Moyer in their scheduled 10-round bout here Thursday night. 'Head-butting' was how he opened a cut in the 5th round over Moyer's left eye, Moyer said. Moyer said Scott opened the cut by butting him in the clinches. The fight had been a fast, crowd-pleasing one. Both fighters stayed on the offensive. Moyer slipped in hard combinations with his guile. Scott returned them with his fast hands and appeared to be coming on before the fight was stopped at 2:53 of the 8th." -Associated Press
- Referee Pat McMurty and one judge had Moyer ahead when the bout was stopped. The other judge had the bout even.
- Scott was already signed to fight Luis Rodriguez the following month in Seattle.
Post-fight comments
- "A good chopping right opened the cut, but Scott butted him a couple of times after that. I had to warn both fighters that if they kept that stuff up I'd take points away from them. Moyer was thumbing him and heeling him too." -Referee Pat McMurtry
- "If that's so, then how come the referee warned him five times before he got around to warning me?" -Denny Moyer
- "Welcome to the Billy Goat Club." -Fraser Scott
