"Britain's Dave 'Boy' Green scored a narrow decision over Andy 'The Hawk' Price of San Diego, Calif., in a grueling fight Tuesday that had been billed as a welterweight world title elimination at the Empire Pool. Referee Syd Nathan awarded Green 96 point to 95 for Price at the end of the 10 round fight, although Green appeared on the point of defeat in the 9th round. With a cut under his left eye, Green put on a flourish in the 10th and final round to gain the narrow decision. Both men were on the brink of exhaustion at the end of a contest of all-out punching." -United Press International

• Price had to sweat off 1 1/2 pounds at the morning weigh-in to make the 147 pound limit. Green made it on his first attempt.
