"Explosive heavyweight Jerry Quarry of Los Angeles scored a 5th round knockout over Prentice Snipes of Miami, Fla., Thursday night before 6,100 fight fans at the Olympic Auditorium. Quarry, at 193, dropped the 203 pound Snipes with a left hook to the body followed by a short right cross. Snipes fell across the ropes in a neutral corner and barely managed to regain his feet before the count. Quarry then cornered him and ripped Snipes with a left hook and a right cross to the head, dropping him for the full count." -Pasadena Independent
