"Leslie Borden, 196, Montreal, Canada, was no match for Jerry Quarry, 194, Bellflower, Calif., Monday night as Quarry floored him with a left hook in the 5th round of their scheduled 10 rounder at the Valley Music Theater. Referee George Latka halted the bloody bout at 2:18 of the round after Quarry dropped the Canadian with a series of blows to the head. Borden's nose had been broken in the 2nd round and it had bled profusely covering both fighters in the remainder of the bout. The 21 year old Quarry was well ahead on points before Latka called a halt to the fight." -United Press International
