"Esteban DeJesus of Puerto Rico Saturday retained his WBC lightweight title when he sent Japanese challenger Buzzsaw Yamabe to the floor twice in the 6th round and the referee stopped the bout. DeJesus had been leading from the opening bell, hitting Yamabe all over the ring, and downed him for the first time with a series of left and right hooks. Yamabe got up and continued, but hit the floor again at 2:06 of the 6th round after another furious left-right combination. Again Yamabe was up before the count of 10, but he looked so dazed that referee Tony Perez stopped the fight." -United Press International
