Ralph Charles 146 lbs lost to Ernest Musso 147 lbs by TKO in round 8 of 8
- Date: 1966-05-31
- Location: Town Hall, Shoreditch, London, United Kingdom
- Referee: Benny Caplan
"The unbeaten record of Ralph Charles, West Ham, 145 1/2, was broken when Ernest Musso, Rhodesia, 147 1/2, stopped Charles in the 8th and last round. The Southern Area welterweight champion, who had eyes on Brian Curvis's welterweight titles, was going well until the 7th when Musso countered with a right cross that had Charles in distress, putting him down for eight. From then on it was all Musso. After Charles had risen it was seen that he was suffering from a badly cut left eye, and was at the mercy of the aggressive hitting of Musso. In the last round further punching by Musso on the damaged optic prompted referee Benny Caplan to step in." -Ring Magazine, September 1966 issue
