"Commonwealth champion Clyde Gray dashed Gil King's championship hopes Monday night, scoring a TKO over the Akron, Ohio fighter in the 4th round of their welterweight match. Gray decked King twice in the 3rd round and three times in the 4th before referee Harry Davis called a halt to the match. After the fight was called, however, King jumped from the floor and began throwing punches at Gray, who also landed a few in an effort to protect himself. The two were restrained by their seconds." -Winnipeg Free Press
