"Clyde Gray of Toronto, British Empire welterweight champion, knocked down Papo Villa in the 8th round and scored a unanimous 10 round decision over the New York fighter in a non-title fight Friday night. Gray, scoring repeatedly with combinations to the head and stiff body punches, opened a cut over Villa's eye in the 1st round, then dropped him with a right in the 8th round for an eight-count. Gray suffered a cut over his left eye when the two fighters bumped heads in round eight." -Associated Press
