- After the match, Gray's manager Irv Ungerman stated he had Gray signed to fight Juan Ramos of New York on May 7th, but that he was likely going to move the bout forward so as not to interfere with the May 10th promotion of Jimmy Ellis against George Chuvalo in Toronto. However, the Ramos fight never came off.
"Clyde Gray, the Canadian welterweight champion from Toronto, Wednesday night, knocked out Don Ross of Toronto in the 4th round of a scheduled 10-round non-title bout. Gray, 151, went after Ross early and sent him to the canvas with a flurry of punches, but the game Ross was up at the count of six and stayed with the champion for most of three rounds. Ross, 154, connected with a few body punches but the only injury Gray seemed to suffer was a split in the back of his trunks. At 1:53 of the 4th round, Gray rocked Ross with a solid left hook and then followed him to the corner with a left-right combination that won the match." -Canadian Press
