"In a preliminary bantamweight title elimination bout scheduled for 10 rounds, unranked Eddie Logan of Los Angeles scored a stunning upset when he stopped No. 2 rated WBC contender Alfonso Zamora of Mexico City at 39 seconds of the 9th round. Zamora had opened a bad cut over Logan's left eye in the 5th round, then put him down for an eight count in the 6th. But Logan bounced back to knock Zamora to the canvas in the 8th round, then finished him with a flurry in the 9th that had Zamora bleary-eyed when referee Vince Delgado stopped the bout." -Associated Press
