In December 1966 Sugar Boy Nando lost on points in a 8 rounder to German Manfred Graus in a Oslo bout. Since then, Nando had wanted a rematch claiming that his loss was due to homesickness, a strange explanation considering that Nando lived and boxed all over the world.

Norwegian managers tried to get Graus back to Norway, and when they raised the German's fee to the high 2500 DM, Grauss arrived. The fight was a disappointment however. Graus wrestled and clinched, did all he could to keep as close as possible to the lanky Caribean who was dangerous at half distance with long shots. The referee warned Graus twice. In the 6th Nando dropped Graus with an uppercut to the body. Graus was counted out on his knees.

In the weekly German boxing paper " Box Sport ", Graus offered the following explanation: " After the second warning, which I found unjustified, I became afraid I was going to be disqualified and lose my purse. I let myself be counted out from a body punch. "

This was however not the way BoxSport's Oslo-correspondent Otto Heller had seen things. In his report 31.August 1967, he wrote that Graus went down from left hook to the jaw. On the floor, Graus complained about pains in the area of his kidneys, protesting in vain to the referee.
