- An accidental headbutt opened a cut above Calloway's left eye in round 2.
- Calloway received a standing count in round 3 as he was lying on the ropes after a barrage of shots from Chagaev.
- After Calloway confirmed he was able to continue, doctor called for a time out to check the cut above Calloway's left eye. By the doctor's advice, the fight was stopped.
- At first, Chagaev was declared the winner by third-round TKO, which resulted in Chagaev celebrating the victory with his team and the fans chanting "Molodets! Molodets!" towards the Uzbek fighter.
- After a few minutes, however, the decision was changed, and was ultimately announced a Technical Draw.
