"Paolo Rosi of New York, gunning for another shot at the lightweight title, spoiled the US debut of Argentina's Manuel Alvarez last night by winning a unanimous 10 round decision in their TV fight. Rosi beat the South American at MSG with straight rights and left hooks. Many of the 1,500 fans booed the decision because they thought Alvarez, with his leaping peek-a-boo style had won. There were no official knockdowns but Alvarez was sent flying backwards through the ropes onto the ring apron by a right to the head in the 3rd round, but referee Devlin ruled it a slip. Each fighter suffered cuts on both brows and Rosi bled freely from the nose." -United Press International
