- Date: 1939-10-24
- Location: Olympiad Arena, Houston, Texas, USA
"Fritzie Zivic, 145, of Pittsburgh, the No. 2 ranking welterweight challenger tonight scored a unanimous 10 round decision over Kid Azteca, 150, Mexico City, before 2,500 disappointed fans who booed the scrap at the finish. Peppering Zivic's face with sharp left hooks and hard right crosses, Azteca moved into an early lead. Zivic, who carried the scrap throughout, won the 1st round, but the next three were decidedly the Mexican's. Zivic closed in to take the 5th by a slight margin, bloodying the Mexican's nose. The 6th was his best round as he rocked Azteca three times with hard rights. That round seemed to finish Azteca but Zivic became cautious in the last four rounds. He won all of them by decisive margins except the 10th in which the Mexican made a dying gasp." -Associated Press
