"Lou Nova, California heavyweight, hit the floor for a nine count in the 1st round and then came back to punch out a lopsided 10 round decision over Johnny Flynn, Rochester, NY, tonight at Civic Stadium. Nova, 207, ran into two left hooks in the first minute of the fight and dropped to the canvas. He recovered quickly but took the nine count waiting on one knee. Nova then went on to turn in a methodical job, shooting short left jabs from the outside and pounding his right to the body in the infighting. Flynn, 209, rallied briefly in the 6th round but faded fast and was hanging on at the finish." -United Press
