Earnie Shavers vs. Roy Williams
Earnie Shavers 210 lbs beat Roy Williams 231 lbs by KO at 2:46 in round 10 of 10
- Date: 1976-12-11
- Location: The Aladdin, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
- Referee: Buddy Basilico
"Earnie Shavers shook off a standing eight-count and came back less than a minute later to score a 10th round knockout win over Roy Williams in a heavyweight bout Saturday afternoon. Although Shavers was ahead on all three judges' scorecards, the fight was unexciting until the 10th round when both fighters were given standing eight-counts. Referee Buddy Basilico gave Shavers the first standing eight after Williams battered him with both hands. Just when it looked like Williams was going to snatch the victory, he was staggered against the ropes by a couple of hooks and a short right less than a minute later. The glassy-eyed Williams was given a standing eight-count then started to step forward, but the step turned into a sidewards motion and he fell full length on the canvas at 2:46 of the final round." -United Press International
- Another 10 round bout on this card featured a rematch between Mike Rossman and Mike Quarry.
