  • Location: Olympic Auditorium, Los Angeles, California, USA
  • "Joe Medrano hardly had a chance to display his ability Thursday night at Olympic Auditorium when he scored his 15th victory in a row by stopping Masahito Takahashi at 1:30 of the 2nd round. Takahashi suffered a cut over his right eye and the bout was stopped by Dr. Bernhart Schwartz. Medrano had just scored a knockdown with a short, jolting right to the jaw when referee Lee Grossman started to count, then saw blood streaming from the cut and summoned the doctor." -The L.A. Times

    • "Joe is ready for any featherweight around. We would prefer Tury Pineda, but he has a title fight coming, so Joe will fight anyone. I'm just sorry that the fight didn't last longer, because Joe was in top form. I've seen Takahashi fight several times, but it's the first time I've seen him knocked down." -Jackie McCoy, Medrano's manager.
