Al Spina vs. Young Tommy
Al Spina 123 lbs beat Young Tommy 124 lbs by KO at 2:19 in round 1 of 10
- Date: 1936-02-25
- Location: Auditorium, Portland, Oregon, USA
- Referee: Tom Louttit
Tommy was floored six times during this fight. His seconds threw in the towel when one punch sent him clear through the ropes. Referee Louttit picked it up and threw it out of the ring, then resumed counting. When Louttit reached seven, Tommy had crawled back into the ring and was up on his feet only to be felled for a four-count, then a fifth time for a two or three-count, then the sixth knockdown. A towel once again was thrown into the ring, but Louttit kicked it aside while tolling the fatal count. Tommy's seconds were unaware that it was against Portland boxing rules to throw in the towel; the referee was the sole judge of when to stop a contest. Tommy had to be carried out of the ring. This is the last known documented bout for the Pinoy boxer.
