  • The fight between Tore Magnussen of Norway and Dominique Azzarro of France was a sharp and fast duel, "probably the best fight ever held in Norway," wrote Leif K.Nilsen of Aftenposten who had been around since the 1920's and seen everything. Both men were basically counterpunchers, and traded hard punches i high tempo. Magnussen was shaken by a right in the 1st. In the second both men nearly knocked each other out, a terrific right from Magnussen was countered by a left hook to the jaw from Azzarro and both men staggered. Azzarro shook the Norwegian with another left hook in the 3rd. Rounds 4-6 saw hard and fast exchanges. In the 7th, a perfect series dropped Magnussen. Few seconds later another French left-right-left hook knocked Magnussen out for a full minute, his first KO-loss of that kind in a 15 year career.

"Always sad to see a man end his career knocked cold, " wrote Leif K.Nilsen, "but Magnussen has actually never been better."
