"Although the crowd at Johnny Best's Liverpool Stadium for the return match between Benny Lynch, flyweight champion of the world, and Peter Kane of Golbourne, was over 20,000, it must have disappointed Johnny, who expected at least 40,000. The contest itself, though not as fierce as the previous one, was of championship variety. Kane held the lead at the midway mark, but Lynch, with some excellent infighting, made up some leeway, although Kane still appeared slightly ahead at the start of the 12th and last round. After a thrilling finish, it seemed that Kane would receive the duke, but referee C.H. Douglas gave the verdict as a draw, a decision which did not meet with approval." -Ring Magazine, July 1938 issue
