"Gil Turner, 155 1/2, Philadelphia middleweight contender, scored a TKO over Joe Miceli, 147, of New York in 44 seconds of the 8th round of a scheduled 10 at the Eastern Parkway Arena tonight. Referee Petey Scalzo stopped the bout as Turner kept pegging away at Miceli's left eye, which was cut about the brow and almost closed. Miceli's eye was cut in the 4th round and the wound bled profusely. Dr. Samuel Swetnick, commission Medico, examined the wound at the end of the 6th, but permitted the bout to continue.
