"British light heavyweight champion Chris Finnegan outclassed and stopped Roger Rouse of Anaconda, Montana Tuesday night, the one-sided bout being halted in the 4th round to save the American further punishment. Rouse showed that at 36 his best years are behind him and after seeing the American taking a battering, referee Tom Brimmell decided there was nothing left to prove. Rouse had a weight advantage at 174 pounds to Finnegan's 169 but was hard-pressed to defend himself from the opening bell. There were no knockdowns." -United Press International
