"Eddie Jones scored a 9th round TKO of Roger Rouse, veteran Anaconda, Mont., battler, in their preliminary Monday night. Jones, of Los Angeles, dished out a bloody attack in the scheduled 10 rounder, and Rouse was unable to answer the 9th round bell. The heavy-hitting Jones had Rouse badly hurt and down twice in the 6th round. Rouse just barely made it up each time at the nine count. The crowd shouted for referee Nate Morgan to stop the match but he allowed it to continue. Rouse was in distress again in the 8th and between rounds his manager, Pete Janovich, asked the referee to stop it." -Associated Press
