"Freddie Dawson of Chicago outpointed Australian welterweight champion George Barnes in a 15 round bout tonight at Sydney Sportsground. There was an early sensation when the Australian sent Dawson down for a compulsory eight count with a straight right to the chin in the 1st round. Dawson rose to take the initiative, flooring Barnes with a left to the head in the 8th round and again in the 11th with a right to the jaw. Barnes took some terrific punishment in the later rounds." -Associated Press
