"Charley Riley, St. Louis, tonight jabbed his way to a 10 round split decision over Glen Flanagan of St. Paul in a featherweight fight at Kiel Auditorium. The fight was so close that the 4,070 fans sat silently while the ballots were being counted. There were no knockdowns but Riley landed a telling blow in the 4th when he slashed Flanagan's left eye with a sharp right. In the 2nd, 3rd and 7th round, Riley, 127 3/4, outbelted Flanagan and had him shaky in each. Flanagan, 129 1/2, used an effective jab to pile up his points." -Associated Press
