Alan Minter 161 lbs beat Maurice Thomas 164 lbs by TKO in round 6 of 6

  • Date: 1972-10-31
  • Location: Royal Albert Hall, Kensington, London, United Kingdom
  • Referee: Mike Jacobs

"There was much interest in the professional debut of Olympic light middleweight bronze medalist Alan Minter, Crawley, who impressed in stopping the normally durable Maurice Thomas, Antigua, in the 6th. Southpaw Minter gave a confident, relaxed display against an experienced opponent, snapping in with quick right jabs, with Thomas too slow to counter. In the 6th a left hook to the chin put Thomas down for nine, and referee Mike Jacobs halted matters as the Antiguan boxer got to his feet." -Ring Magazine, February 1973 issue

  • Minter's debut was fought on the undercard to the British welterweight championship contest between John Stracey and Bobby Arthur.
