"Methodical George Araujo, an easy winner over Teddy 'Red Top' Davis, took a spectator's seat today to await his turn at trying for the lightweight championship. Araujo left little doubt last night about his right to a title shot while winning a unanimous and easy decision over Davis in a nationally televise bout at Cleveland Arena. Araujo raked Davis with lightning lefts and smashing rights to the head. The steady pounding opened a cut over Davis' right eye in the 6th round and blood streamed down his face from then on. Except for an occasional right to the jaw, Araujo had little trouble with 'Red Top'." - Associated Press
