Nelson started fast, but seemed to be worn down and rendered ineffective by Fenech's swarming attacks and dogged perseverance. Looked close to being stopped in final round. In November 2022 the WBC awarded Fenech his 4th world title, the one he was denied when drawing with Nelson after a board reviewed the scoring, all scoring the bout in Fenech's favour. Unfortunately the decision wasn’t reversed changing Fenech’s record to 30-3.
