"Jose Torres, the world light heavyweight champion, won a unanimous 10 round decision over Tom McNeeley of Boston in a non-title bout Saturday night. McNeeley took a nine count in the 1st round and thereafter kept pushing Torres into the ropes to stay at close range. These tactics brought a continual roar of boos from the estimated crowd of 10,000 at Bithorn Stadium. At the end the ring was littered with crumpled paper cups and empty beer cans." -Associated Press
- This bout was originally announced as a majority decision win for Torres until referee Ramon Fournier's card was examined and found to be scored 96-92 for Torres instead of the draw that was originally announced.
- World heavyweight champ Muhammad Ali boxed four exhibition rounds on this card. Two rounds with Jimmy Ellis and two rounds with Cody Jones.
