- Referee: Des Crabbe
"Australian middleweight Tony Mundine enhanced his hopes of a world title fight with a five round victory over Juarez DeLima of Brazil here tonight. Referee Des Crabbe stopped the fight 1:12 into the 5th round after DeLima had crumbled under a furious onslaught from Mundine. Mundine knocked DeLima down after two minutes of the 1st round, sent him sprawling against the ropes at the end of the 4th and felled the Brazilian again ten seconds into the 5th. But the fight wasn't totally one-sided, the referee giving the 3rd round to the Brazilian 5-4. DeLima showed pluck and stamina to come back after Mundine had flattened him with three left hooks in the 1st round. Mundine also cut the inside of DeLima's mouth badly, in the opening round." -Reuters
