Tony Mundine beat Lenny Harden by KO in round 3 of 10

  • Date: 1974-05-27
  • Location: Stade Roland Garros, Paris, Paris, France
  • "Commonwealth middleweight champion Tony Mundine of Australia, was knocked down in the opening 30 seconds of his bout with New Jersey negro Lenny Harden at the Roland Garros Tennis Stadium in Paris last night before Mundine knocked out Harden in the 3rd round. Harden snapped Mundine's jaw back with a left jab and followed up with a right over the top as Mundine went to the canvas. The Australian bounced straight to his feet before taking the mandatory eight count. Harden staggered Mundine late in the 2nd round with a right to the side of the jaw but this time the Australian stayed on his feet. Midway through the 3rd round Mundine stopped Harden with a piston-like left and followed up with a succession of right hands. Harden sagged at the knees and went to the canvas as the count was applied. He vainly attempted to retain equilibrium but rolled back to a prone position. The bout was scheduled for 10 rounds." -Associated Press
