- Location: Sahara Hotel & Casino, Space Center, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
- Both Weaver and Bonds were paid $750 apiece.
- "It was a left hook to the chin. I was losing all the way. He got me with a good body shot in the 2nd round and I caught a cramp." -Dwain Bonds
"Heavyweight Dwain 'Fast Black' Bonds didn't live up to his nickname in the main event Monday night at the Sahara Hotel's Space Center. Bonds, former National Golden Gloves champion, was knocked out by journeyman Mike Weaver, Los Angeles, in the 8th round of a scheduled 10. Weaver dropped Bonds' pro mark when he nailed him with a series of hooks. A short left hook ended the proceedings at 2:58 of the 8th. It looked like Bonds of Detroit, might be finished in the opening round when Weaver caught him with a straight left that sent him to the canvas. However, the finish was about the only exciting part of the otherwise-dull main go. It was Weaver's third straight victory since coming under the direction of manager Don Manuel." -The Las Vegas SUN
