"Lightweight champion Joe Brown taught challenger Cisco Andrade a boxing lesson last night as he scored a unanimous 15 round decision to retain his title. The 34 year old champion from Houston, Texas, taking advantage of a five inch longer reach, flicked and jabbed his way to a lopsided victory over the Compton, Calif. challenger in his 9th defense of the title. Except for the 7th and 8th rounds, Andrade never could catch up with the champion. At the finish, Andrade was bleeding freely from a cut in his right eyelid. He was tired and badly outclassed but still on his feet and trying to catch the champion with that one desperate punch at the final bell." -United Press International
- Unofficial UPI scorecard - 12-2 Brown
