Joe Brown 134 lbs beat Dave Charnley 134 lbs by TKO in round 6 of 15

"Lightweight champion Joe Brown stopped another charge of youth Wednesday night when he beat Britisher Dave Charnley on a TKO. Brown was leading by as many as five points in the 5th round when he lashed out with a left and then a right and crimson spread down the right cheek of the 24 year old Briton as a deep cut opened over his eye. Charnley put his glove to his head and staggered back just as the bell rang ending the round. While Charnley's corner men worked over him, referee Jimmy Webb raised Brown's hand and led the champion to the center of the ring. Charnley appeared to have little chance with the veteran Brown, who used a 3 1/2 inch reach advantage to keep Charnley away from him." -Associated Press
