"World junior lightweight champion Gabriel (Flash) Elorde unleashed power-punching Saturday night to score a unanimous decision over Solomon Boysaw of Cleveland in a 10 round, non-title bout before a capacity crowd of 35,000. The champion caught fire in the 8th round when he knocked Boysaw down for a two-count. Elorde then slammed a powerful right to Boysaw's head that sent the American reeling. A followup left hook brought Boysaw down near the ropes, but he got up quickly. In the last two rounds, Elorde attempted to finish off Boysaw but his opponent skilfully backed away or clinched. Boysaw started out aggressively and was in command until the 5th round. But Elorde came back at the start of the 6th round and started going after Boysaw with crunching combinations." -United Press International
