Rone collapsed shortly after the first round had ended, and moments later ceased breathing, according to ringside physician Randy Delcore. Delcore performed CPR on Rone for several minutes in the ring prior to Rone being transported to Valley View Medical Center in Cedar City where he was later pronounced dead. Rone took an immediate rematch three weeks after the first bout with BIlly Zumbrun unprepared, as he needed money to pay for his mother's funeral. Rone collapsed after the first round ended. He did not appear to be hurt when the round ended. He was buried alongside his mother.
