Bob Pastor 187 lbs drew with Lou Nova 201 lbs by PTS in round 10 of 10

  • Date: 1938-04-22
  • Location: Dreamland Auditorium, San Francisco, California, USA
  • Referee: Toby Irwin

"Bob Pastor, NY heavyweight, and Lou Nova of Alameda, Calif., and Calif. state champion, fought 10 rounds to what referee Toby Irwin called a draw here last night. Pastor, who stayed 10 rounds last year with heavyweight champion Joe Louis, baffled Nova with his shifty boxing but Nova scored heavily in the last round. During several of the rounds the speedy, experienced New Yorker gave Nova as clever a boxing lesson as the young Californian ever had in the ring." -Associated Press

  • Pastor was dropped in the 7th round from a straight left but was up immediately before the count started.
  • Unofficial AP scorecard - 6-3-1 Pastor
  • Unofficial Oakland Tribune scorecard - 5-4-1 Nova
  • The AP reported stated Nova sustained a cut over an eye, but the Tribune reported Nova was cut over both eyes as well as the left eyelid.
