Art Hafey beat Pablo Nieves by KO in round 5 of 10

    • "Art Hafey, 123, Stellarton, geared only to a forward speed, scored a 5th round KO over Pablo Nieves, 120, Puerto Rico, now fighting out of Jersey City, before 3,000 fans who all but took the roof off the New Glasgow rink. Hafey by no means had things his own way as Nieves fought his head off and hurt Hafey in the 3rd with smashing rights and lefts to the head but the local with all the coolness of a veteran twice his age, charged ever forward swinging left hooks and sledge-hammer rights that no welterweight could take. Hafey opened the 5th all even with Nieves but a short left hook knocked Nieves down for a nine-count. he got up fighting but the handwriting was on the wall. Hafey landed hard to the body and up to the head with a smashing right and Pablo took another nine-count.
