"Walter Byars of Roxbury won the rubber match with his rival from Boston, Willie Pineapple Stevenson, an eight round feature at the Maple Arnea A.C. that attracted a small gathering in the north Main Street sports spot. It was a unanimous verdict for Byars, who was accorded "Prospect-of-the month" honors in the August issue of the Ring magazine. Byars, a two-fisted fighter, never gave Stevenson a chance to rest.
