"Irish Frankie Crawford of North Hollywood, Calif., knocked out Raul Carreon of Phoenix in 2:47 of the 3rd round of a scheduled 10 round featherweight bout at Olympic Auditorium last night. The hard-punching Crawford was in command of the fight from the opening bell as he jarred his shorter, stocky opponent with lefts to the body and head. Early in the 3rd round, Crawford dropped Carreon with a left hook to the head. Carreon took the mandatory eight count. Crawford rushed the Latin into a corner and hit him with a barrage of lefts and rights to the head before referee Lee Grossman halted the fight." -Associated Press
