"Adolph Pruitt, Los Angeles, knocked out Javier Ayala, Mexico, in the 7th of a scheduled 10 round bout at the HIC Arena. Pruitt floored Ayala with his first punch and except for the 2nd round, when the Mexican made his only bid, had an easy time of it. He softened Ayala with hard body punches and Ayala was no longer in the fight after the 5th. A left and right to the jaw floored Ayala in the 7th. He landed outside the ropes and barely beat the count. As soon as he was on his feet, Pruitt polished him off." -Ring Magazine, December 1969 issue
