Valdes dropped the promising 24 year old German three times in the 5th round and four in the 6th. A powerful right to the base of the jaw sent Friedrich to the canvas for the seventh time. He tried to rise at the count of eight but his trainer Otto Buerger threw in the towel and Valdes was proclaimed the victor on a knockout by referee Barnet Bergstoem of Holland." -United Press
