"After whipping No. 11 rated Jimmy Robertson on a 7th round knockout, Ray Lunny III can look ahead to more significant opposition. Robertson was supposed to be Lunny's toughest test, but the Bay Area Flash tore through the experienced Los Angeles product at will, winning all but one round on most of the officials' cards before referee Vern Bybee finally halted matters during the intermission prior to the 8th round. The fight itself was a quick-paced affair, thanks mostly to Lunny's in-close tactics that had Robertson backing away almost throughout. Lunny opened a cut on the bridge of Robertson's nose in the 2nd round and drew blood from the veteran's left eye in the 4th. Still, Lunny never felt he had the fight in the bag until Bybee stopped it after the 7th." -Hayward Daily Review

- "I thought I might be able to put him down in the last round, but he's real hard to hit because he's so unorthodox." -Ray Lunny III
