"Ringwise Don Fullmer of West Jordan, boxed his way to a unanimous decision over game but out-manned Ferd Hernandez in the main event action last night in the Hacienda Hotel's Strip Fight of the Week. Hernandez took the best Fullmer had to offer and never went down although he was staggered early in the first round. Fullmer displayed more boxing ability and was less a mauler than his older brother Gene. Hernandez came on strong in the late rounds and easily won the 8th as he opened a small cut over Fullmer's left eye. The Las Vegas fighter suffered a slight bloody nose from the battle." -The LAS VEGAS SUN
