London, to his credit, went out without being off his feet and took his stick admirably before referee Harry Gibbs placed a protective arm around Brian's neck and led him to a safety corner. Even the punch traders who have knocked London managed applause as he walked back to the dressing room for the last time. Bugner had beaten one-time British champion London in a canter, but he labored trying to hit down at an opponent. Yet in spasms Bugner looked the goods. London tried ducking and smothering and attempted to counter, but he was beaten in every department. London's face started to become distorted and Bugner turned the heat on in the 5th.
